int_blog_academy,  Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

You can make one of those orange XML or RSS buttons or icons without using an image with CSS. Here’s how:

CSS:

.feed {
border:1px solid;border-color:#FC9 #630 #330 #F96;padding:0 3px;font:bold 10px
verdana,sans-serif;color:#FFF;background:#F60;text-decoration:none;margin:4px;
}

HTML:

Googlebot to submit Web Forms

int_blog_academy,  Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

Few months back I saw in Google Blog that Googlebot is planning to submit web forms.

‘Specifically, when we encounter a <FORM> element on a high-quality site, we might choose to do a small number of queries using the form. For text boxes, our computers automatically choose words from the site that has the form; for select menus, check boxes, and radio buttons on the form, we choose from among the values of the HTML.’

They also listed some important limitations, which makes this seam much less extreme as it did when I first read about it.

The Googlebot will NOT submit forms that:

Use method=”post
Have password fields
“Use terms commonly associated with personal information such as logins, userids, contacts, etc”
